Homemade Pizza Sauce- No Tomato Paste!
Simmering simple Italian ingredients such as, passata, onion, garlic, and seasonings makes for a deep, balanced flavor-- no tomato paste required.

- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion diced
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 tsp basil
- 1 tsp oregano
- ½ tsp salt Redmond’s Real Salt
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp fennel seed
- Pince of ground black pepper and red chili flakes
- 26 oz tomato puree passata
- ½ tsp sugar
- ½ tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Heat a 3 qt pot over medium heat. Add oil.
Once hot, but not smoking, add onions. Soften onions.
Add garlic, basil, oregano, salt, Italian seasoning and fennel seed.
Once fragrant, add passata, sugar and Worcestershire sauce.
Simmer until reduced to a thick sauce.
Blend until very smooth. Refrigerate until ready to use.
