Homemade Pizza Sauce- No Tomato Paste!

Simmering simple Italian ingredients such as, passata, onion, garlic, and seasonings makes for a deep, balanced flavor-- no tomato paste required.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion diced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp salt Redmond’s Real Salt
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp fennel seed
  • Pince of ground black pepper and red chili flakes
  • 26 oz tomato puree passata
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • ½ tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions
 

  • Heat a 3 qt pot over medium heat. Add oil.
  • Once hot, but not smoking, add onions. Soften onions.
  • Add garlic, basil, oregano, salt, Italian seasoning and fennel seed.
  • Once fragrant, add passata, sugar and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Simmer until reduced to a thick sauce.
  • Blend until very smooth. Refrigerate until ready to use.
